DownloadSarah gained her initial accountancy training and experience at the central finance office of Drake & Scull Engineering Limited. She was appointed Company Payroll Manager in 1984, with total responsibility for a department paying 2,500 operatives, nationally, then in excess of £1/2 million per week.
Sarah moved to the shipping industry, to Associated Container Transportation Services Limited, in Southampton, as Finance Manager. There she managed a department of 26 people responsible for all aspects of the financial accounting for the consortium, including Cunard, Ben Line, Blue Star Line and the Harrison Group. During this time, she designed and implemented a totally new accounting system which she then, acting as the internal financial systems consultant, adapted for the Cunard Ellerman group of companies.
Combining her wealth of knowledge gained of systems, computing and financial management Sarah also reviewed and designed new management reporting systems for their Continental Agents in Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerp and Genoa.
In 1991 Sarah was appointed Business Manager for Winchester Management Resources Group where she enjoyed the varied role involved of running a highly professional management consultancy business dealing with 'blue-chip' clients.
Sarah formed Winchester Bourne in 1993, having identified the need for a cost-effective and professional accounting resource for small and medium sized companies, she was the first to see the advantages that highly skilled and properly delivered outsourcing can bring to business.
The company has gone from strength to strength. Sarah runs this successful forward-looking business with a growing team of very talented, experienced and qualified staff. Sarah was elected a Fellow for the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce in January 2006.
Sarah enjoys music of many genres - playing the piano and writing music - going to concerts. Visiting the theatre both locally and the West End, feasting on box-sets, listening to podcasts, watching and attending many types of sporting events including cricket, football, horse racing and rugby. Sarah also loves cooking for and eating with friends and family and just ocassionally there is time to read too? Did we mention she also has a very keen interest in politics and current events.
